Rules & Guidelines

Postby netsavy006 on Tue Apr 17, 2007 1:10 am

Welcome to Andy Inc. I hope you enjoy your stay. Of course there are a few basic guidelines one must follow:

Spamming:
Spamming will not be tolerated here on the forums. "Spamming" is when a user makes an excessive amount of posts on the same topic. Users who are found spamming will receive a warning and/or a possible ban.

Post Subjects:
Be sure to use good subject titles. Using good titles will enable people to find similar content faster and more efficiently.

Moving Posts:
Occasionally, posts will be moved to another area of the forums. If this happens a user will be notified that their post was moved, and a reason behind the move.

Read Sticky Threads:
Make sure to read the sticky threads before posting. Some important information and common questions will be posted in the sticky threads. Sticky threads will be found at the top of each forums "folder".

Don't post E-mail addresses:
Please, try not to post email addresses. Doing so runs the risk for spam and viruses.

Language:
Please respect other users opinions, even if they are different from your own. Please do not "flame" another user or moderator. Doing so will result in a warning or ban depending on severity. Also, be aware to not use inappropriate language. Should inappropriate language be used, it will be replaced with asterisks (*).

Privacy:
Please respect each others privacy. This means not posting information that will upset another user. Should you have a problem with another user please deal with it via Private Message first. Should that fail please let a moderator or administrator know of the problem. Appropriate action will be taken once a report has been made.

Bumping:
"Bumping" is when you post on your thread to make it appear at the top in the "view new threads" link and have it at the top of a forums "folder". While this is necessary in some cases, in others it is not. Please aviod bumping when necessary. A good rule of thumb is to not reply to a topic that's had no new posts for 30 days.

Double Posting:
While occassionally this can happen, please try to keep it to a minimum. Continuously double posting will result in removed posts, a warning, or ban.

Locked Threads:
Sometimes, a thread may be locked due to issues related to the thread (complaints, etc.). Should this happen users will be notified and be advised as to further action to be taken. Once a thread is locked, it will first be reviewed, modifications made, and then re-opened for the public. Should there be excessive problems with a thread it will permanently closed.

Graphics/Avatars:
Graphics and avatars are allowed on the forums, including animated pictures. Just be sure to use common sense when posting a graphic or avatar.

Web-links:
Web links are allowed to be posted on the forums. When starting a thread with a web link, please use the Website section of the forums to post it. At any other time use the reply w/ quote button and then post the link with a short explanation. Following these steps will make it easier to navigate through web links posted on the forums.

Here is one single rule for maintaining maximum security when posting at Andy Inc.:

Malware and Viruses
No links to viruses, spam, spyware, and other malicious content. If such links are posted they will automatically be removed by either a moderator or administrator.

If you don't know if a file contains malicious content then don't open or download the file.

To help better protect our forum users here are some links to anti-virus and anti-spyware programs that can help protect you from viruses, trojans, spyware and other malicious content:

1. AVG - http://free.grisoft.com
2. Avast - http://avast.com
3. Avira Anti-vir - http://free-av.com
4. AOL Kaspersky - http://www.activevirusshield.com/antivi ... /index.adp?

All these programs are free and may require an email address.

** Should a link/download on this site contain malicious content/code, please report it to a moderator or administrator **

Please keep in mind that if a user continues to violate this rule, whether intentional or by accident a warning will be administered and/or a suspension or ban.

I hope you enjoy your stay. Should you have any questions feel free to post in the Andy Inc. Q & A or contact a moderator, administrator or myself.

Have fun and enjoy,
Andy
